Lane Findlay grew up in Davis county but has lived the past 17 years in western Weber county. He is married with four children. He graduated from Layton High School, served a church mission in Mississippi, and then returned home to attend Weber State University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology. While at Weber State, he also self-sponsored through the Utah Police Academy. He spent almost 15 years working in law enforcement, and recently served as a patrol lieutenant and public information officer (PIO) for the Weber County Sheriff's Office. In August 2016, he left the Sheriff's Office to take a position at the Weber School District as their Community Relations and Safety Specialist.

Mr. Findlay will discuss an upcoming $97 million school bond for Weber School District which will appear on the election ballot in November. The bond, which will not increase the tax rate, will go to fund the construction of two new elementary schools, add a 12-classroom addition to Fremont High School, rebuild the aging Roy Junior High, and expand Weber Innovation High School. These projects will help address overcrowding issues in an ever-growing district. Superintendent Jeff Stephens will also attend and be available for questions.
