Nancy Winemiller-Basinger, Ph.D. has been the President and CEO at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah since January 2015. As a former Big Sister, she has seen first-hand the importance of mentors in the lives of children. Before joining BBBSU, Nancy spent 12 years at the University of Utah, first as an Assistant Professor in the Master of Public Administration Program and later as the Engaged Faculty Director at the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center.

Nancy earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Georgia, an MPA in Nonprofit Management and a BS in Accounting, both from Indiana University. Nancy started her nonprofit career as the Director of Finance at Options for Better Living in Bloomington, Indiana where she learned a great deal from people with intellectual disabilities and about nonprofits. Her specialty areas of teaching and research include nonprofit financial management, board governance, grassroots nonprofit management, and service-learning. Nancy’s research has appeared in several journals including Nonprofit Management & Leadership, the Journal of Nonprofit Management, and the Journal of Community Engagement and Higher Education. She has served on several nonprofit and professional boards and committees including University Neighborhood Partners and the Utah Nonprofit Association.
