Atlantic Ocean Rowing Team 2018-2019
ROW4ALS Team Trailer
The ROW4ALS team raced last December in the 2018 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research (ALS is also commonly known as Lou Gherig's Disease). Their five person team had a member who was the first person with ALS to row the Atlantic.
Tim Ryan, ROW4ALS Team Leader, stated "What began as a personal challenge to complete the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge has grown to an epic adventure by a group of friends to find a cure for ALS in a most unconventional manner."
The Talikser Whisky Atlantic Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing that covers 3,000 miles from San Sebastian in La Gomera, canary Islands to Nelson's Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua and barbuda. The annual race begins each December from teams all over the world.
The team placed 17th out of 28 teams and completed the race in 51 days, 11 hours, 57 minutes.
