Robert Axson, State Director for Senator Mike Lee

Following nearly 6 years working in different capacities for Senator Mike Lee in Utah and Washington DC, Robert Axson has served as the State Director for the Senator since Dec. of 2016. Robert uses his role to emphasize the need for connection and relationship building. Robert takes this idea of interconnectivity and utilizes its principles to create positive opportunities for communities and to solve complex issues. When people from different perspectives feel heard and needed, the foundation is strong for connection-minded results to be applied to many of our most compelling challenges and opportunities. 

Robert’s professional focus has been toward the promotion of community collaboration, family-oriented initiatives encouraging opportunity and economic mobility, and the protection of individual liberties. He has felt most fulfilled when promoting understanding, and redemption while helping individuals reclaim a belief in their potential.

In addition to his work with Senator Lee, Robert is a sexual assault victim’s advocate working to re-empower victims while using education and frank conversation to prevent future abuse and a mentor promoting rehabilitation; reintegration to society of former criminals and drug addicts; and has coached each of his son’s baseball teams at various times.  He has served as the Utah GOP Vice Chair for 2020 and 2021.  

A graduate of the University of Utah, Robert lives in Cottonwood Heights with his wife Erin, three young sons, and baby daughter where travel, reading, and baseball are frequent activities.
