We are resuming our weekly meetings each Thursday at 7:30 am at a new location where we can be outside and observe safe social distancing:

What a great holiday season kickoff! The grand opening of Christmas Village was a blast! Between the Santa run, the parade and the fireworks, the Village was buzzing with excitement. Per usual, it was extremely hard to keep up with the crowd, even with two burners going outside making cocoa.

Kevin was interviewed on video by a couple of local celeb's (who'd previously made HBO documentaries internationally) as well as by the Standard Examiner (for THIS article).

And above all this, FIRST prize of the night goes to Josh Haacke's two sons who gutsily surfed the crowd with their cocoa shouting, "HOT CHOCOLATE! RIGHT HERE! SUPPORT SHOES FOR TOTS!"

The presentation by Professors Gene Sessions and Craig Oberg was entertaining today at Ogden Breakfast Exchange. Might I say surprisingly entertaining, considering the topic - "microbes"?

But what a fascinating experience to learn how pairing history and microbiology could yield a synergistic product: How microbes caused Gerald Ford's electoral loss (swine flu) and Napolean's Waterloo (typhus).

This Thursday, Aug 27th, we look forward to our monthly member spotlight with Michael Jacobazzi. Mike is an instructor at Ogden Weber Applied Technology College (OWATC). After earning a master's degree, Mike recently attained a Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) in Pastoral Theology.

Ms. Mallorie Mitchell with Prevent Child Abuse Utah (PCAU) will also visit with us, updating us on the jubilee this weekend.

We have a few seats available at the Breakfast Exchange table* for the PCAU Jubilee. It is this Saturday, Aug 29th, at the reception center at This Is the Place Heritage Park in Salt lake. Doors open at 6 PM (drinks/social) followed by dinner, silent auction and other activities. Please support this worthy cause by your attendance.

*Breakfast Exchange Club of Ogden made our annual donation for which we received a table for ten members and guests for $1,500.

We had an interesting visit last week by Scott Paxman, Asst GM of Weber Basin Water Conservancy District. A Q&A was packed with issues around metering, scarcity and future residential growth.

Jerry Bovee will provide an update on WSU athletics, the new academic house, collaborations with Ogden City, and a preview of the 2015-16 athletics season.

Jerry is in his sixth year as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Weber State University. He began his position in September 2009.

Stephanie C. Lujan Wormcke, passed away July 30, 2015. She was born Sept 26, 1987 to Armando and Elsie Wormcke Lujan in Lima, Peru. When she was 16 her family moved to Ogden, Utah.

She attended Markham College in Lima, Peru and graduated from Ogden High School. Stephanie was director of 2.1.1. information and referral for United Way of Northern Utah, board member of Breakfast Exchange Club, member of Women in Philanthropy, Welcome Baby volunteer, leader of Students United and involved in the Boys and Girls Club and AmeriCorps/Vista. She was very involved in helping youth at risk.

She enjoyed running, photography, traveling, visiting the ocean and tending animals.

Stephanie is survived by her parents; grandmother, Irma Lujan; brother, Armando (Pamela) Lujan and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, click on the link below:
